Winter Workouts- Week One: 10/22/12-10/26/12
First week of winter workouts have started up. We were all anxious to get started back up with weights, conditioning, and individuals. We all came to the weight room bright and early Monday morning ready to sweat and work hard! The workout was tough but it felt good knowing that with each rep we were working to get stronger. Later that afternoon we made our way to the field for a conditioning session with Coach Reeder. It was a real challenging circuit workout and we were definitely feeling the pain on our bodies later that night! We continued to work hard in the weight room and on the field for the rest of the week. On Friday, we were surprised to hear that we were doing a team scavenger hunt for conditioning! Each team was given a list of locations around the Mars Hill that they had to run to and get a picture with. It was fun, but definitely a cardio workout!
Check back for next week's post! I hear we have some winter weather approaching The Hill!

Winter Workouts- Week Two: 10/29/12-11/2/12
Well, this week the weather really put the word "winter" into winter workouts! Monday morning was a cold one but we completed weights like normal. However, throughout the day the temperature continued to drop. Around 11 o'clock, we got a text from Coach Stanley telling us that we were going to go on a 30 minute run around campus for conditioning later that afternoon. Well, around 2 o'clock the snow flurries really started to fall. We made our way down to conditioning at about 3 all bundled up and ready to face the snow. As planned, we did our 30 minute run in the snow and got some strange stares along the way. We came back inside wet and frozen but there was a sense of relief knowing that we were finished with conditioning for the day. Throughout the night it continued to snow and Tuesday morning we woke up to a winter wonderland of about 4 inches. Due to the snow we had an off day and we were told we would continue weights on Wednesday afternoon. After having the day off we were ready to get back in the weight room and work hard. We were also really ready for the Halloween party we were going to have after weights! Later Wednesday night, the coaches and the players traveled to Stephanie's house for a Halloween celebration! We had all kinds of amazing foods and not to mention some pretty crazy Halloween costumes! The snow started to slowly disappear and the rest of the week went as planned. Thursday we had hitting individuals while Friday we had a tough morning workout and later that afternoon we wrapped up the week with a strong defensive practice. It was a pretty cold and tough week but we know that with each rep we are getting stronger, faster, and better!
Keep on lookout for next week's post! Hopefully it will be a tad bit warmer!

Winter Workouts: Week Three and Four: 11/5/12-11/16/12
These past two weeks have been absolutely hectic for us! We have all been working extremely hard inside the weight room and outside at practice. We all continue to get stronger in the weight room. I looked at my weight log the other day and was admiring how much I have improved since we started weights at the beginning of the semester. At individuals, we have completed many drills that improves our footwork and hand-eye coordination. These past two weeks have been crazy but we are continuing to grow as individuals and players! Needless to say, we are all ready for Thanksgiving break so we can eat a lot of great foods and then burn it off when we get back!
We are almost finished with our winter season so keep on lookout for our last post!

Winter Workouts: Week Five: 11/26/12- 11/28/12
This was a very short week for us because we are no longer allowed to practice with final exams quickly approaching. On Monday, we had one of our toughest conditioning sessions to date. We all did something called the "Football Field Ladder." We all started on the goal line and did a full out sprint to every other 10 yard line. Once we got to the end we also had to sprint back. Once we made our way all the way down the field... we did it again! It was a tough workout but it was definitely very rewarding in the end! Tuesday was a very rainy day so instead of getting on the field we all ran a timed mile. Wednesday was our last day of the fall season. We decided to have a two hour team practice. This practice was a very fun one and a great way to end the season!
As of now, we are completely finished with our season for the fall semester. It has been filled with some tough, cold, sweaty, and challenging moments but we all managed to make it through! We are all very excited about our main season in the Spring. For now, we are going to get ready to study for finals! Stay in touch with our team in the Spring!
